Accelerating Women in Civic Leadership
Challenge
Scale a successful project that demands high-touch individual relationships with influential elected officials by shifting the model from regional program delivery to a national, mission-minded network.
Solution
Openfields used human centered design methods to clarify and visualize the motivations of women at various stages of their civic leadership journey. Insights from our research became the basis for redesigning and redeploying the Appointments Project.
This effort included:
- Interviewing 40 women leaders and additional stakeholders
- Developing a customer journey map of women's journeys in civic leadership
- Developing customer personas
- Facilitating an interactive design session to identify core motivations of women in different stages of the journey
- Writing and designing new curriculum experiences
- Identifying new opportunities to generate sustainable revenue
I cannot speak highly enough about Openfields and the strategic partner they’ve been for our organization. Their work has greatly impacted our systems change design principles, elevated our policy communication strategy and prepared us for national funding opportunities. Their strategic guidance and counsel have been a priceless asset for enhancing the trajectory of our organization.
